When To Access The Service

The Urgent Treatment Centre is designed to assist individuals with medical concerns that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening. If you believe you have a medical issue that falls into this category, we are here to help.

We will see and treat minor illness and injuries in both adults and children, for example:

  • Fever and infections

  • Sprains

  • Scalds and burns

  • Minor cuts, bites or stings

  • Fractures

The UTC works closely with the Emergency Department. When you come in you will be assessed using our streaming/triaging system to see what priority your treatment should be given and who would be the best person to see you.

How To Access The Service

There are two primary ways to access the Urgent Treatment Centre:

Through NHS 111: If you contact NHS 111, they will conduct an initial assessment to understand your medical needs. If deemed necessary, they will provide you with an arrival time at the UTC. This ensures that you receive timely care based on the severity of your condition.

Walk-In Service: The Urgent Treatment Centre offers a walk-in service, which means you can come directly without an appointment. However, it's important to note that patients using this method may experience longer wait times, as they do not have an allocated arrival time.

Seeking The Quickest Care

For the most efficient and timely care, we recommend contacting NHS 111. Their expertise will help direct you to the most appropriate service for your specific medical condition. Patients who walk into the UTC will be triaged but may experience longer wait times compared to those with an allocated arrival time through NHS 111.

Your well-being is our priority, and we strive to provide you with the best possible care based on your individual needs. Thank you for choosing the Urgent Treatment Centre for your medical concerns.
