The Waverley Practice is located in Greenwich, South East London and operates across 2 sites in Plumstead and Welling, providing general medical services to its 4,400 patients. They are currently looking to recruit a confident and enthusiastic part-time Receptionist to join their small, hardworking and friendly practice team.

 

As a member of the front of house reception team, the successful candidate will be required to provide effective and efficient reception skills, which will include meeting/greeting patients and visitors to the surgery, booking appointments, answering telephone calls and dealing with queries, scanning and filing documents, actioning prescription requests, and providing administrative/clerical support to the clinical and management teams to ensure the smooth running of the surgery. The role requires working 16-20 hours per week over 5 days, between 8.00am - 6.30pm to a set rota, across both sites. There is also the option to work additional hours on a Saturday as part of the PCN’s enhanced access service. Flexibility is essential as sickness, annual leave and extended hours cover for colleagues is required.

 

Applicants should have previous customer service experience, preferably having worked in a GP surgery, with the ability to multi task and work under pressure in an extremely busy reception environment. A good team player, excellent communication and IT skills are essential. A working knowledge of both EMIS and Docman clinical systems is also preferred, however training will be provided.

Blackheath Standard Surgery

Our colleagues at Blackheath Standard Surgery are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable part-time Receptionist to join their welcoming and supportive team. Providing front desk reception cover, the post holder will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have an empathetic and caring nature, as they will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors to the practice. The role will also include booking appointments and signposting patients to the relevant services, answering incoming calls, responding to queries, replying to email correspondence and assisting with general administrative tasks.

A friendly, busy practice, whose ethos is to provide effective, high quality healthcare to their 7,700 patients in a caring, supportive and helpful manner, they are located in a pleasant part of Blackheath, South East London, and form part of the Blackheath and Charlton Primary Care Network. The practice is led by 2 GP Partners, with a multidisciplinary team consisting of 2 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate, 2 Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physiotherapists, Social Prescribing Link Worker, Care Coordinator and a Mental Health Practitioner, who are further supported by an experienced reception/administrative team.

This position is for 22 hours per week, working across 4 days, Monday to Friday on a seven week rolling rota between 7.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 7.00pm. Saturday mornings also form part of the practice’s enhanced access service, with the option to work these sessions on a rotation basis. Flexibility is essential, as shift patterns may vary, particularly during periods of sickness and annual leave, where cover for colleagues is required. A team player, the successful candidate will be an efficient multi-tasker, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

 

Ideally, they would prefer someone who has GP experience or experience of working in a medical environment. However, they would still welcome applications from someone who has worked in a similar reception role, and is willing and quick to learn.

The Fairfield Practice

The Fairfield Practice is a well-established 4 Partner training practice located in Charlton, South East London, with a list size of 12,500 patients. An ambitious, positive, outward looking and forward-thinking practice dating back to the 1960s, the practice has a strong value of providing high quality, patient centred care to the local community. The 4 Partners work with a team of 3 Salaried GPs and a number of trainee GPs. A very effective and experienced nursing team includes 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses and 2 Health Care Assistants. Members of the Blackheath and Charlton Primary Care Network, they are also supported by a team of Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Workers and Care Coordinators.

 

The practice is looking to recruit a polite and organised Care Navigator/Receptionist to join their friendly team and be the first point of contact for patients. With a compassionate and patient-focused attitude, the successful candidate will work alongside colleagues to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient service delivery. Duties will include greeting and welcoming patients, managing appointment bookings, answering phone calls, responding to inquiries, and providing information about the practice’s services. In addition, the post holder will assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry and handling correspondence, maintaining patient records and ensuring confidentiality.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure, as are strong IT skills. Experience of working in a GP practice or similar medical environment is desirable, as is a working knowledge of the EMIS clinical system and Docman. This is a part-time position working 20 hours over 3-4 days per week (negotiable), which will include a late shift until 6.30pm-7.00pm on a Thursday. Candidates must be flexible with their working hours to cover colleagues absences, annual leave etc. The practice is offering a competitive starting salary of £12.70 per hour, which will be increased on satisfactory completion of probation, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Everest Health Partnership is a growing, evolving, busy South East London training practice with a population of just under 20,000 patients. Operating and delivering their service across three sites, they are planning to expand their existing friendly and supportive nursing team and are looking to recruit a competent Practice Nurse. The post holder will be expected to work across all three sites, so driving and owning a car, along with holding the appropriate UK driving licence is preferred.

 

A highly organised practice, their large multidisciplinary team includes GP Partners, Salaried and Trainee GPs, an Advanced Practitioner, Physician Associate, Pharmacists, Physios, a Mental Health Worker, Dietician, Practice Nurses and Phlebotomy/Health Care Assistants. They are supported by a large reception and admin team.

 

The successful candidate must have previous experience of practice nursing and demonstrate an understanding of general practice. Ideally they will be suitably qualified and be able to demonstrate competencies in areas of long-term conditions management, childhood and baby immunisations, vaccinations, travel, wound care and cervical screening.

 

Hours are negotiable and salary is dependent on skills and experience. Support with access to ongoing role relevant training will be considered.
